We have taken the popular drag & drop behaviour of the Object Library, and applied it to the SmartRoads components. Now all you do is drag & drop various road elements on your scene. To create an intersection you now have to drop 2 road segments on top of each other so they can intersect.
Once you have dropped all your elements on the scene you an use grips to fine tune your scene.
Overpasses, Crosswalks, Access Roads and Driveways are dropped on your roadway. Left,+ Double Left Turn Lanes and Medians can be placed from the Object Library or added using the Actions tab. Sidewalks and Grass, - Dirt, and Paved Shoulders are added using the Actions tab.
You have the choice of either dropping an “Arc Road Segment” or converting a straight segment to a curved segment. A curved road segment behaves the same way a straight one does!
This new component allows the user to place fully editable roundabouts in a scene that renders in 2D and 3D. Roundabouts are placed and fully edited in minutes.
Another time-saving feature of FX3 and SmartRoads is the SmartRoads Properties dialog. Set up your global SmartRoads properties such as lane width, line color/style,.... and your roadways will always come out with those setting by default. Saving you time in the long run. These settings will be saved and remain start FX3 or SmartRoads the next time.
